Committees

This committee seeks out opportunities for members to expand their business. This may take the form of linking two or more members together, assisting members to apply to supply goods or services to the government, or assisting members to supply goods or services to a non-member private business.

This Committee meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 11:30am-1pm at the Chamber office

Marketing Committee

The goal of the Marketing Committee is to better communicate information to our members. Duties are as follows:

Membership Committee

The primary role of the Membership Committee is to build and maintain the membership of the H5C. The committee strives to increase the number of active members in the H5C by proactively seeking out prospective new members. The committee also works diligently to maintain existing members by helping them to obtain the maximum benefit from their membership. In addition to attending a monthly meeting, each committee member participates by making phone calls to welcome new members, following up with prospective new members, greeting new and prospective members at the monthly mixers, and introducing new and existing members of the many benefits available to them through the H5C.

The Membership Committee meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 11am-12:30pmt the Chamber office.

Events Committee

The Events Committee is responsible for planning and promoting our events. These events include monthly network mixers, mixers with other chambers in the county, Fiesta/Christmas party, annual business expo with Pleasant Hill and Concord chambers, annual Small Business Awards Luncheon with the Contra Costa Council, Cinco de Mayo party, and many other spontaneous events.

Education Committee

The Education Committee is responsible for the largest H5C event of the year, the annual “Narrowing the Gap” conference where over 200 Latino high school students and over 50 Latino business leaders meet for a half day conference to discuss the importance of graduating from high school, career opportunities, paying for college and other important topics.

Health Committee

The purpose of the Health Committee is:

Promote awareness about the importance of a safe and healthy workforce.

Promote awareness about business safety practices in order to decrease accidents in the workplace, reduce sick leave absences, and increase production.

Collaborate with existing healthcare and social service organizations to improve access to them for Hispano/Latino families in Contra Costa County.

Support existing organizations, agencies and programs already providing quality services to the Hispanic/Latino community in Contra Costa County.

We will achieve these goals through the following tactics:

Support local efforts, through health conferences, health summits and health fairs, to increase awareness and access to healthcare services for Hispano/Latino families.

Promote working collaborations and partnerships with existing local health service providers.

Take holistic approach to health care delivery to include primary care services, mental health services and preventive medicine.

Government Affairs Committee

The Government Affairs Committee dedicates itself to working with elected officials at the federal, state, county and local levels to increase the opportunities for success of Hispanic Chamber members.

The committee meets as needed and makes recommendations to the board for final approval.

This committee meets every other month on the 2nd Thursday at 1pm at the Chamber office and conference calls every other month on the 2nd Thursday at 1pm.

The mission of the Green Committee is to promote sustainable, healthy, responsible and profitable environmental practices. Join us as together we experience and promote the greening of the Chamber and our members. Our vision is to cultivate green, sustainable practices. They are the seeds of environmental awareness. Like indigenous milpas, a sustainable agriculture practiced by Mesoamerican peoples, we will assist in spreading and creating healthy, responsible and environmentally sustainable business practices in our community.
